Stephan Barnem and Junyl delivers some new material at SCI+TEC family. 2 new tracks that generates a whole new sound of techno. The first track “Half Square“ has a particular and continuously climbing synth note that rises and rises and take the sound to the explotion of beats. In the other hand, Qwerty is very much the polar opposite as Stephan teams up with JUNYI and produces a trippy and very abstract Track. Techno is the answer and this kind of music, is why i like to say that.
Stephan Barnem is the latest rising star to join the SCI+TEC family. The April release of his ‘A Violent Disturbance In A Crowd’ Ep on Maceo Plex’s Ellum Audio turned the heads of many. Coupled with his impressive DJ sets at this years Sonar Festival, the inclusion of ‘A Violent Disturbance...’ on Dubfire’s Enter.Ibiza compilation and now the release of his SCI+TEC debut ‘Half Square’, Stephan’s stock is set to rocket further.
A monster of a record, Half Square has all the attributes of a festival fire-starter. The continuously climbing synth note that rises throughout as the beats play and fade below… further still… before dropping and starting the epic, grinding climb once again. Hands up!
Qwerty is very much the polar opposite as Stephan teams up with JUNYI to deliver a track thats sparse, expansive and with an overwhelming sense of space that allows us to become lost within. Our only tether being its crushing kick drum. A fine SCI+TEC debut from Stephan and one we’ll be hearing for many months to come.
