1. Movement Electronic Music Festival
Detroit, Michigan, United States

The Movement Electronic Music Festival takes place every Memorial Day weekend inside Hart Plaza – Detroit’s legendary riverfront destination. More than 100 of electronic music’s most illustrious artists, local heavyweights and pioneering legends make their way to the birthplace of techno to perform on one of the five outdoor stages. The festival features a posh VIP setting located behind the main stage; dozens of afterparties; an interactive technology center featuring electronic music instruments; and several art displays to stimulate the senses. Over 100,000 people from around the globe attended the 2014 festival.

2. Sunjam
Utila, Honduras

Sunjam started back in 1996 when former Utila resident Alun Gordon spotted the potential of Water Cay as an incredible party venue. Alun was a founding member of London’s infamous Hedonism party crew and organized a series legendary warehouse parties in 1987/88 that are widely credited with kicking off the acid house summer of love.

Hedonism was the first to combine house music with massive sound systems and their parties have gone down in history as the first warehouse raves ever held. Following the success of Hedonism, Alun moved to the newly united Berlin and was heavily influenced by the amazing work of the Planet party crew. They took raving to a new level, with amazing decor and art combining with incredible sound systems in unusual venues.

World class DJs queued up to play to the infamous dance floors that didn’t know when to stop. When Alun saw Water Cay he knew it was the ultimate party venue and he quickly set about organizing the first Sunjam party, hoping to combine the freshness of Hedonism with the impeccable delivery of Planet. It was a tough job at first.

Persuading ravers to come to an unknown venue for a party that no one had heard of meant that Alun offered the first parties for free and shouldered much of the cost, just for the pure party pleasure. However, soon word spread and the crew formed. Luis & Alfred were founding members and worked closely with Alun to help turn Sunjam into a party that DJs were willing to travel to.

In 2001 when Alun left Utila to return to London, where he still lives and DJs, Luis & Alfred took over the reins and have taken the Sunjam vibe forward, turning it into the biggest techno-house music festival in Central America. Sunjam has a fixed date every year, the first weekend in august. For us Sunjam begins two weeks before the event. The cay must be cleaned and everything must be transported onto the island by boat and barge. All that you see on the cay the day of sunjam was put there by producers. As this is a deserted island the production of this event is no easy task.

Although Sunjam is a one night affair , we strongly reccomend arriving to Utila at least one week before the event , this way you can catch all the warm up parties taking place on the island of Utila.

The day of the Sunjam, party goers gather on Utila’s waterfront where local fishermen with their boats await to transport the eager crowds to their final destination. After a 45 min boat ride you will arrive to Water Cay.Jump off the boat and follow the instructions given by our security staff. Be patient…… we need to search and screen all bags to assure your safety while you are on the cay.
